“White Hole Sun”
(Est. 1996) “Suncorp Group Limited is an Australian finance, insurance, and banking corporation based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is one of Australia’s largest banks (by combined lending and deposits) and its largest general insurance group, formed on 1 December 1996 by the merger of Suncorp, Metway Bank and the Queensland Industry Development Corporation (QIDC).” (Wikipedia)
Starting now, this new logo marks our ambition to create a better today for all Australians. You’ll see it first on our websites, and soon in our stores and communications.
Images (opinion after)
The old logo was weird with a sun coming out from behind a red… thing. To me it has always looked like a roly poly bug instead of a sun. The colors were also pretty unappealing. The new logo now looks more clearly like a sun, although it has some kind of reverse eclipse thing going. The gradient-y sun could have actually been cool if it had been paired with a more lively wordmark instead of the horribly corporate, personality-lacking Helvetica. It looks so, so sad. The concept stores don’t get that much more exciting. Overall, a change was needed for sure, but this got stuck halfway where it needed to go.
