Colin B. Bailey, director of the Morgan Library & Museum in New York, has been elected to the board of the Richard Diebenkorn Foundation. Bailey previously served on the foundation’s advisory committee.

Prior to joining the Morgan, Bailey served as director of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, deputy director and chief curator of both the Frick Collection and National Gallery of Canada, in Ottawa, as well as curatorial posts at the Kimbell Art Museum in Ft. Worth, Texas, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

In a statement, Steven Nash, the Diebenkorn Foundation’s president, said, “Colin is a distinguished curator, art historian, and skilled leader with a vast knowledge of museology and the cultural and philanthropic spheres.” Nash noted that Bailey has a particular appreciation for the art of Diebenkorn, developed in part during his leadership of the Fine Art Museums of San Francisco when a survey show, “Richard Diebenkorn: The Berkeley Years, 1953–1966,” 0pened in 2013.
